What’s in a name?

It’s been a while. In the meantime, I’ve started printing my new series of work. It combines my fascination with trees with my angst at the state of the climate and nature.

There are so many subthemes to this body of work, that I’ve gone about this project a bit arse about tit. I have literally written a brief, thought of the themes and I am then creating the artwork. Maybe work won’t be as spontaneous but it sure as hell is responsive and loaded with meaning.

There’s one stream that looks at defacing prints of nature in ways that corporations are defacing nature. The literal greenwashing of the environment.

Then there’s another where I’m capturing elements of resilience and decay as a direct result of human activity - climate change, development, encroachment and poor planning and policy for nature.  These latter works remain visually bold and appealing, capturing the resilience and beauty of nature. However, their titles push boundaries.

This latest body of work will culminate in a group exhibition at Halesworth gallery, Suffolk alongside Sophy Wollaston and Gail Hoban. From 3 - 28 we’d love to see you there and explore who ‘Owns this Land’.
